Never Stinks
Did you know that bacteria actually cause fabrics smelling? So if you kill the bacteria the fabric will not smell.

Sounds easy but isn't because antibacterial stuff touching your skin would lead to some nasty rasches and most probably allergic reactions.

This is where silver comes in: A bit expensive but it does the job in a great way.

Juan the textile engineer behind the Buff® fabric solved this by embedding Polygiene® technology.

As an industry first the Buff® fabric stops odour and actively kills bacteria for the lifetime of the fabric - GUARANTEED

What is Polygiene®

Polygiene active odour control logoThe leader in antibacterial solutions for the medical industry. Joan chose this technology because of its many advantages to other solutions (like Buff® :-).
  • Works with Silver-Ions which are only released when needed
  • Is environmentally friendly
  • Dermatological 100% approved and even qualifies for the use in medical bandages in Europe

How Polygiene® works

Any bateria that enters the fabric triggers a release of silver ions that destroy the bacteria. The more moisture, heat and bacteria level the higher the pace of release.
Polygiene Technology 1
In detail it is a three way step to eliminate odour-causing bacteria effectively and safely
Polygiene Technology 2
  1. Silver ions kill the bacteria by entering the cell membrane - The bacteria "collapses"
  2. The positive silver ions bind to the negative sulphur ions in enzymes - The Bacteria "suffocates" and "starves"
  3. The silver ions bind to the sulphur in the DNA/RNA chain - The bacteria can not replicate

What do the tests say?

Joan tested the technology by measuring bacteria growth on Original Buff® that were treated and Buff® that were untreated. He applied eColi and Staph Aureus to both fabrics.

On the treated Buff® these bacteria were killed 99.9% after 24 hours whilst on the untreated they had grown.

Why is Polygiene® people and evironmentally friendly?

Like all Buff® products Polygiene® has passed the tough European Oekotex100 test. It has been dermatology tested for:
  • Skin irritation and sensitivity by health experts
  • Proven to have no leakage of the active ingredient - approved for bandaging by the European Union
  • The bacteria level on the skin remains unaffected. Only bacteria that passes throught the fabric is affected.
